My journey started last week when I met a Korean in Liverpool, who mentioned Takao Talk. She works for Liverpool-based venture capitalist.
When I explored our 63,500+ skilled volunteer database of https://skilledup.life, I realised we had 3 skilled volunteers from Korea. Secondly, we had no Korean tech startups leveraging our service. This is not acceptable.
As the Founder & CEO, I was compelled to address the challenge, as I have done previously regarding China using Xioahongshu. As a result, we have a growing Chinese volunteer base including Chinese tech startups.
Having started with Takao, as usual, it wasn't straight forward to navigate. Secondly it didn't provide a social feed to discover people and tech companies. However, I managed to join a number of tech startup communities immediately. Now it won't let me join any new ones, until I verify my account, which I cannot do with a UK mobile number. Crazy but you have to live and navigate with their rules. I'm ok with this. So far, I think I made two new friends.
This led me to discover this site. So here I am. I don't yet have a clear strategy for Korea but as usual, it will develop as I continue to experiment and learn.
This is me https://www.linkedin.com/in/manojranaweera if you like to connect.
Oh, before I go, SkilledUp Life helps cash strapped tech founders to turn ideas into thriving tech companies by utilising our 63,500 skilled volunteer base. Tech Startups subscribe to us. Once subscribe they can start to build whole teams. There are no additional fees involved.
I also run Techcelerate - Manchester, UK centric tech founder network and Deal Lite, data on UK Tech investment landscape.
